It is very important that you eat a well-balanced, healthy diet. Make sure you get enough calories, protein, and nutrients from different food groups.

You should avoid food that seems to worsen your symptoms. You may not have to take medications if you are able to control your symptoms by the foods you eat.

Some foods that may make your symptoms worse are:
  • Spicy foods
  • Dairy products
  • Caffeinated beverages
  • Alcohol
  • Some raw fruits and vegetables (broccoli, cabbage, carrots, apples)

If you find that certain raw fruits and vegatable are causing you problems, you may want to try them cooked. You may want to try a variety of fruits and veggies to see which are okay for you to eat.

Some other foods that may make your symptoms worse are:
  • Beans
  • Onions
  • Popcorn
  • Fruit juices
  • Artificial sweeteners
  • High-fat foods such as nuts, ice cream, red meat, avocados, fried foods, and butter.

You may feel better if you eat smaller, more frequent meals. Make sure you drink plenty of liquids.

Talk to your doctor about taking vitamins and minerals. You may need:
  • If you are anemic you may need an iron supplement
  • Nutrition supplements
  • For strong bones you may need to take Calcium and Vitamin D supplements

If you feel that your diet has become limited or you are loosing weight make sure you talk to a Dietician or your Doctor.
